Lake Torment Stewardship Association (LTSA)

With the Lake Torment Stewardship Association (LTSA), ACM was hired to investigate why algae blooms are reoccurring in Lake Torment. Together, LTSA and ACM combined their knowledge and resources to create a more clear picture of what is causing the blooms and how they behave within the specific region. These findings will be used to help create community based plans to protect and improve the health of the lake .

Frontiers in Remote Sensing (2025)

Darlings Lake, located in the Saint John River watershed, Canada, experienced lake-wide cyanobacteria blooms in the summers of 2021 and 2022. This study uses high spatial and temporal resolution satellite imagery from Planet Labs (Planet Labs, Inc., San Francisco, CA, United States of America) to understand the extent and severity of the blooms with a time series analysis of the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and the normalized difference chlorophyll index (NDCI) over the lake using k-means clustering.
